The theme of the second Rotterdam Biennial, led by Adriaan Van Geuze, is “flood”. For a country like the Netherlands, which has tenaciously recovered acres of land from the sea, it is a crucial subject. Also at an international level though, it is still a burning issue. Venice, Copenhagen, Dubai and Recife are some of the water cities analysed in the exhibition. The programme consists of a month of exhibitions, conferences, films and excursions. E.S.
