The restyling of Fiandre’s historic headquarters

The project by Iosa Ghini Associati studio is the ultimate expression of the company’s products and philosophy. The result is a workspace meant to be lived in.

Redesigning the historic headquarters of a company means engaging with the traditions deeply embedded in the place itself—without foregoing contemporary solutions that prioritize the well-being and comfort of its employees. This was one of the main goals of Fiandre, a company with decades of experience in the ceramic sector, in its collaboration with the architecture firm Iosa Ghini Associati.

This restyling project goes far beyond a simple renovation: the company’s historic headquarters in Castellarano (Reggio Emilia) is a 2,400-square-meter complex spread over three levels, completely reimagined to create elegant, functional, bright, and sustainable spaces. These new spaces reflect the brand’s core values and offer a work experience focused on comfort and well-being.

“Our intervention was designed to last over time and reflect the brand’s essence, harmonizing architectural and stylistic choices with technical and organizational needs to create a coordinated and coherent image,” says architect Massimo Iosa Ghini. Every environment has been conceived to stimulate creativity, improve the quality of work life, and enhance the relationship between architecture and landscape. Glass walls and high-performance acoustic solutions allow natural light to flow freely, while the use of curved shapes and carefully selected materials provides harmony and continuity. Offices are interspersed with welcoming common areas such as a bar zone and a relaxation area overlooking the garden, culminating in the presidential office, which has been designed as a bright and elegant representative space.

Ceramic surfaces, unsurprisingly, are the stars of the restyling and the true thread connecting all elements of the project. Used for flooring, wall cladding, and furnishings, Fiandre’s collections become an architectural skin that blends technical performance with sophisticated aesthetics. From the entrance hall with Sapienstone surfaces sculpted into artistic forms, to executive desks and meeting tables made from Active Surfaces® porcelain stoneware, every element has been meticulously crafted and is enriched with lighting systems and polarized glass governed by Hypertouch®, an exclusive and smart technology conceived and patented by Iris Ceramica Group, applied to ceramic slabs with “touch” controls that activate an integrated system of home automation sensors, enhancing the continuity of the material and eliminating unsightly switches and cables. In addition to their refined material elegance, Active Surfaces® offer tangible benefits: they are antibacterial, antiviral, self-cleaning, and effective against pollution—helping create healthier, safer environments.

Refined tones, customized finishes, and chromotherapy-inspired color combinations create a palette that conveys calm, energy, and continuity. One standout example is the 18x3-meter mural by artist Becha curated by Machas, created using DYS Design Your Slabs technology. “The color of the furnishings and finishes adds personality and makes the spaces feel more domestic and creative, while also conveying a sense of timeless elegance,” the architect explains.

Fiandre, part of the Iris Ceramica Group, has long been an international benchmark in the production of high-end ceramic surfaces. Quality, innovation, aesthetic research, and environmental responsibility are the cornerstones of the company’s philosophy. The restyling of its historic Castellarano headquarters perfectly embodies this vision, transforming the workplace into a space that communicates the brand’s identity and its forward-looking spirit—aligned with its claim: “for unique expressions.”
