Travertine is one of the most widely used rocks since antiquity in the world of construction. It was such a popular stone during the Roman Empire that it became the undisputed protagonist of architectural works in Rome. Its grandeur is therefore often associated with this historical period. To be explicit: the capital's travertine icons include the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Colosseum, and the Colonnade of St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. With the Marvel Travertine collection, Atlas Concorde reinterprets the most classic material in architecture with a contemporary twist. Marvel Travertine inherits its magnificence with a modern approach, taking its aesthetics but transforming it into a versatile, resistant, high-performance surface that fully exploits the qualities and characteristics of porcelain tiles.
Porcelain tiles that inherit the grandeur of travertine
The Marvel Travertine porcelain tile collection, a collaboration between Atlas Concorde and the HBA studio, reinterprets the aesthetics of travertine in a contemporary key, transforming it into a versatile surface for interior design projects.
Atlas Concorde's Marvel Travertine collection is the result of a collaboration between Atlas Concorde and Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), a leading international interior design and architecture firm specialising in the design of world-class hotels, resorts, spas, casinos, restaurants, cruise ships and residences. A global team of designers has designed the range of geometric patterns consisting of engravings, minimal strokes, origami patterns and inclusions of precious materials. Tessellation, Origami, Basketweave, Chiselled Urban Grid and Diamond are the five decorative motifs, cosmopolitan in scope and adaptable to different project typologies, that the HBA team designed for Atlas Concorde, imagining to apply the surface collection in 10 different architectural contexts. “We and Atlas Concorde share the same passion for design and excellence. As designers of the cities of the future, we have a responsibility to conceive and create spaces that fully respect the environment and people. The surfaces of Atlas Concorde allow us to fully fulfill this mission,” declares Ian Carr, CEO of HBA. “After listening to HBA’s vision of architecture and hospitality design as well as the projects that inspire them, I immediately sensed that our organizations shared similar values. Their talent, connection to their own history, and vision for the future of design architecture make them an important partner who can strengthen our position in the world of prestigious international design,” concludes Maurizio Mazzotti, CEO of Atlas Concorde.
