The new Angell S/Rapide is the second e-bike designed by Ora ïto for the French e-bike manufacturer Angell. The bike sports a lightweight goose-neck frame, a leather seat, and a smaller slanted crossbar, and the company describes it as “one of the lightest e-bikes in the world”, with a total weight of just about 16kg. The two-wheeler also packs an integrated GPS and a customizable touch screen that can show battery life, pollution index, speed, and other information. “Angell expertly fills a gap in the market for a functional yet beautiful product that does not compromise the ability to move quickly and freely around cities,” the company said, “while simultaneously enhancing the eco-responsibility and safety of our urban environment.” The idea behind the S/Rapide is to make the everyday commute more eco-friendly without compromising style or design. That was already Angell’s mission with its first family of e-bikes designed by Ora ïto, which relied heavily on software-driven intelligent functions. Now the S/Rapide pushes the tech envelope even more with new innovative features. The vibrating handlebars, for example, can indicate to the rider when and where to turn without having to look a the embedded display when the GPS navigation is on. Due to current EU e-bike restrictions, the rear-hub 250-W motor is electronically limited to 25 kph (15.5 mph). The battery guarantees a 50-km (31-mile) range per charge, but it charges quickly – in just two hours. The S/Rapide is available in green, black, and silver. Prices start at €2,740.
