After its travel photography and anthropological photo-reports, Stefano Barattini returns to his origins - his love for architecture, studied at Politecnico di Milano in the 1970s - with a photo essay on Modern Movement and Italian Rationalism, which began about two years ago and was completed in August 2018 with a tribute to Bauhaus for its centenary. In Dessau, Barattini turns his gaze to the pure and essential lines of a new architectural vision oriented to the union of aesthetics and functionality and that the photographer still considers as "the last true architectural style until now”.
Since he has been interested in photography of abandoned industrial areas in order to raise the observer’s awareness about the value loss of territories, Barattini finds the Bauhaus’ rigour also in the Italian suburbs, such as the Monte Amiata complex in Milan’s Gallaratese district by Aymonino and Rossi.
