Tado, the German manufacturer of smart home climate management devices, has launched the third version of its smart controller for AC Units. It’s unsurprisingly called Smart AC Control V3+ and it’s a small box that has a simple yet quite useful main function: it connects air conditioners and heat pumps to the home wi-fi, so that you can control them remotely with your smartphone. The Tado unit, a small white box with a retro LED temperature indicator, can replace the infrared (IR) remote completely, as it uses the infrared connection itself to control the AC unit. It’s a versatile solution that makes it compatible with basically any air conditioner controlled via IR.  The new Smart AC Control V3+ adds HomeKit compatibility, meaning you can now control your AC straight from your Home app on iPhone or iPad or through a Siri voice command. If you’re more of an Android person, no worries, the device works with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa too. Other smart features include Geofencing, for turning the AC on and off based on your location, an Open Window Detection system, to stop the AC when a window is open, energy use reports and noise reducing routines to run the AC in a smarter and more comfortable way.  Tado Smart AC Control V3+ is already available at £89.99 on Tado.com and other retailers across Europe.
