Urban self-portraits

ZAquadrato, the young photographers and brothers Zandri, shot selfies in some of the most well-known Rome’s buildings with an old tecnique, thanks to an App, and give back a faint city.

Commissioned by the Impossible Project and promoted by Elvis Lives, the project starts from the aim of testing the I-1 Polaroid camera and its technical accessories.

At the same time author and subject – thanks to the remote shutter via App – ZAquadrato chooses to portray urban and suburban places in Rome, a thousand-faces city melted in an old, modern and contemporary landscape. From the majestic shapes and materials of the arcades, to the fluid and curvy spaces of the museums, passing through the geometric accuracy of the facades and to the iconic forms of the monuments, till the abandoned landscapes of unfinished projects and urban infrastructures, the series is a looking-through way in which architecture is the main character in its strong intensity. The human presence is just a static public, in order to bring the space composition out, as a respectful tribute.
