Boeri associates vaccine with a large flower field

The architectural firm has signed the coordinated image for the Italian campaign on anti-Covid19 vaccines. From the logo to the temporary pavilions, many fuchsia primroses printed on canvas will fill Italian squares.

A simple association, the stylized fuchsia primrose, for a complex and articulated issue: the Covid19 vaccine. It was the entrepreneur Domenico Arcuri – Special Commissioner of the Government for the implementation and coordination of measures for the containment of Covid – to ask Stefano Boeri a coordinated project for the vaccine campaign 2021. The integrated proposal includes a logo, a temporary pavilion where vaccines can be taken and an information totem, all sprinkled with little flowers.

The concept of the project associates the vaccination campaign with a flower, “an icon of biodiversity present throughout Italy, but also a symbol of the natural cycle of life and continuous rebirth” as written on the official press release. The primrose then, “the first to bloom after the long winter and to announce the awakening of Nature and the arrival of spring”, will be the element that will link every aspect of the campaign, and will be clearly visible from above, as its large size will be printed on the roofs of the pavilions, on the side walls and on the information totems.

“With the image of a spring flower, we wanted to create an architecture that would convey a symbol of serenity and regeneration,” says Stefano Boeri. “Getting vaccinated will be an act of civic responsibility, love for others and rediscovery of life. If this virus has locked us up in hospitals and homes, the vaccine will bring us back in touch with life and with the nature that surrounds us” declares Boeri.

The load-bearing structure of the pavilions will be made of structural wood to disassemble and reassemble, while the outer covering is designed to be waterproof fabric, a material made from a combination of recyclable and biodegradable materials. The roof, on the other hand, will house a system of photovoltaic panels, capable of generating enough electricity for the entire module.
