A pop-up terrace opened on Phillips Square in Montréal, Canada. Le Petit Montréal by Destination Centre-Ville, the downtown Montréal commercial development association, in collaboration with Îlot 84 organization specialized in open-air public spaces, was made to revitalize the Sainte-Catherine Street construction site. “Sainte-Catherine Street is in transformation, and it is essential for it to maintain its charm and attractiveness” says Émile Roux, Executive Director of Destination Centre-Ville. For that reason Le Petit Montréal aims to be an attractive point for people passing by, a place able to highlight local businesses in the area.   Le Petit Montréal provides seating without blocking the traffic and an elevated terrace offering a new point of view on the construction site. The large staircase is a protection wall from the noise generated by the close works. Visitors and workers can eat, relax or play board games in this temporary space, that will stay in the square during the summer. The installation, recognizable by a pink line on the ground, has also been provided by informative spaces for tourists, that occupy two of the three containers of the structure.
