Indonesia will move its capital because Jakarta is sinking

The old capital is also very polluted and overcrowded: the president has decided to build a new one.

President of Indonesia Joko Widodo has found a solution to the numerous problems in Jakarta: the construction of a new capital. The Indonesian city with its very high pollution rates is sinking fast, and according to some it could be largely submerged by water by 2050. Traffic problems, lack of green spaces, overcrowding, are also factors that contribute to its decline. The government’s response is to create a new capital, probably on Borneo.
