Trees in the Mirror

Considering architecture in a different perspective, where it doesn’t impose itself in a “fight for space”, B+P Architects and Infopolis Design created a didactics pavilion in Taiwan.

B+P Architects and Infopolis Design designed a small pavilion within a schoolyard in New Taipei City, Taiwan, taking into consideration aspects connected with education, growth, and the role of architecture in urban environments. Trees in the Mirror is an apparatus to enforce the relationship between people and their surroundings and a medium to stimulate creative thinking.

The project aims to establish a more diversified environment for children’s growth, allowing the school to become the aesthetic base for neighboring communities. An art container is put on a corner of the yard, without disturbing the space’s peace and serenity. As a tool for observations, the mirror offers views of ourselves and our relationship with the environment. The pavilion is cladded with mirror-polished stainless steel boards, in order avoid the typical architectural “fight for space”.
