Constellations

To improve union and interaction, Atelier Starzak Strebicki together with City3 and Laura Muyldermans arranged a number of outdoor furniture at the European Parliament.

City3, Atelier Starzak Strebicki and Laura Muyldermans won a competition to improve and engage the metropolitan character of the space around European Parliament. The Constellation project in Place du Luxembourg in Brussels creates a friendly public space where one can read a book, eat sandwich or simply spend some time.

The idea is to link buildings and the railway station Bruxelles-Luxembourg, enlivening the square with temporary urban furniture and greenery to examine the ongoing interactions among different types of users of this space. Numerous scenarios of arranging objects were considered: in groups, in circles and along naturally perceived in the space lines, designing points of connection using 100 chairs, ten tables and 50 flowerpots with plants situated in various configurations, that will be on stage until August 2017.
