Students of the third year of Interior Architecture & Furniture at the Kostfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design were asked to bring back to life an important but forgotten public area next to a shopping center in Skärholmen, Sweden. The urban design intervention involved local residents through interviews, design workshops and surveys on daily life, routines and wishes.

The seven final outdoor furniture pieces are on view at the Greenhouse – Stockholm Furniture Fair. With different functions, materials, shapes and colors, they all tell a story. Marcus Badman plays with curiosity in his fluid public wall made of steel joints and larch wood lamellas, while Marielle Andersson designed a modular bench that can be composed very easily through wooden planks and two metal perforated plates.
Malin Bosdotter and Matyas Barak designed two outdoor relaxing benches: a small one for evening readings with integrated led light and a long one for rest and chilling. For temporary rest, picnics or seating in conversation, Radhika Sarraf, David Lundberg and Alice Stone created a piece each featuring metal and wood.
