Bao Bar

Using bamboo steamers to recreate the Asian night markets atmosphere, ERA architects designed the interiors of a food bar in Barcelona, open to the street.

Barcelona-based firm ERA architects designed the interiors of a Bao, a bar inspired by Asian night markets, where to share an informal dining experience with friends.

ERA transformed the bamboo steamer in the symbol of the restaurant, creating the “baoclouds”. These elements invade the ceiling to give light, evoking a summer night in a street market. The clear wood of the shared long tables and the bamboo, create a tavern atmosphere, fun and informal. An open kitchen allows guests to watch how dishes are made.

Among the main elements the doortable
entrance takes the maximum transparency to leave a clear connection to the street. This opening is completed with a balconytable, integrated with the glass wall. The long wall contains a perspective graffiti to give an urbanbarcelonian character while promoting the talent of young artists.
