These pieces may be considered “failures”: for many different reasons they missed their goal or moved far away from the original project. Mistakes, imperfections
 and unpredictable contaminations are the focus of the exhibition.

They are shown as being the rule rather than the exception, even and especially in projects by eminent designers: the real ability seems to be to welcome these aspects and integrate them into the creative process.

There is also a selection of young European designers displays, a heterogeneous range of products, prototypes and auto productions, showing their processes and the stages of their research. Trials are like “free-practice sessions” in which designers get free from the obligation to succeed in the short-term: a framework of experiences telling how untamed experimentation can lead to innovation.

An other room is dedicated to established design studios and companies that create value through research and development. We asked exhibitors to present their products telling stories about their “making of”, showing evidence of the process that led to the final outcomes.
