Inside it will be presented the sculpture Viktoria belonging to the Squeezers series: a group of mechanically deformed bollards nullified of their original function. The surface of the artwork appears flowing and the individual bollards are entwined in a dynamic motion.
At the Buchmann Galerie in Agra there will be on display some of her last works, such as Plano Piloto and Framework.
Plano Piloto was exhibited for the first time at the Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg in 2014. The artwork is adapted to the room’s size and it is composed of small ceramic brick forms in the shape of houses in various configurations that might suggest early human settlements or, in other instances, sections of city blocks, placed together atop of steel platforms.
Framework is based on photographs of several half-timber buildings in Frankfurt, where Bettina Pousttchi created a monumental photo installation on the facade of the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt in 2012. She reworked elements of half-timbering into ornamental motifs, first using the medium photography and nowadays clay.
Both Pousttchi’s artworks play with the history of ceramics and the history of modern and contemporary sculpture, making for a new and unstable fusion of sculpture and architecture.
