The general concept for this apartment in Moscow, designed by M17, was to bring the natural landscape inside the interior living environment.

In Moscow’s downtown M17 used a sculptural storage-wall to generate a flexibile living space inspired to the principles of traditional Japanese houses.

Using the principles of traditional Japanese houses, the architects tried to use less partitions and walls for zoning the space to avoid the closeness, to make it more spacious and opened, without compromising functionality.
A 20-meter long curved concrete surface goes through all the open-space zone: entrance hall, tea room, garden, kitchen & dining zone. It takes all the technical stuff, store rooms, built-in kitchen, laundry room, wardrobe and guest bathroom. All these utility zones are hidden, leaving only pure open space.
Polygonal segments depicts the roughness of a natural stone, as a mountain fragment, with an emotional point in the middle of the space, where a garden is placed.
