Wall clocks, as clocks in general, are artefacts created to give people the possibility to read what time it is, and in a way, make them aware of the time passing.
Time is us
TIU (time is us) is a wall clock designed by Sara Ferrari reflecting on the notion of “reading time”: a reminder of the time passing, through what’s reflected in it.

Maintaining the classical way of reading time – on a round background with 2 clock hands – Sara Ferrari decided to emphasise the latter concept replacing the minute clock hand with a 60 cm diameters mirror, where the hand’s shape is cut out.
Like this, the wall clock won’t be only about minutes and hours but rather a “reminder” of the time passing, through what’s reflected in it. This could refer to daily activities, change of seasons or ageing. The piece is the result of a collaboration between the designer and Carmelo Colaci, an Italian artisan from Lecce, specialised in clocks for towers. In order to make the mirror rotate, a special mechanism had to be designed. The hour clock hand is available in white and red.
