Among the design project we selected the series of custom pedestals Folk Couture, designed by Situ Studio as a display system; the method for producing porcelain products developed by German designer Kaja Woelky studying the natural process of the formation of a hen’s egg; Marble Lights, a collection of elegant marble and glass pendants resulted from the collaboration between &tradition and London-based Studio Vit; and the Softer than Steel Collection, designed by Nendo for Desalto combining simplicity and functionality with a lightweight material like steel.
Among the architectures we point out: the Tsai Residence, kept by Taiwan studio Tai & Architectural Design “as minimal as possible”, exploring the possibility to design a temporary property as a good place to live in for young people; the little flat in Geneva refurbished by Freaks Architects, defined by two equal stripes along the flat’s length, one devoted to living space while the other is gathering all equipments, both totally white; the Haffenden House, a writing studio for two poets referencing Gianni Pettena’s installation Ice House from 1972, designed by Para-project as a blank spot within the repetitive image of “house”; and the warehouse by SANAA for the Campus Vitra, that, while its scale is imposing, succeeds in introducing an element of poetic sublimity to the industrial site.
