Volvo Design Challenge challenges young and driven designers to create a design inspired by Volvo and the XC60: the ten best entries will develop their ideas under professional guidance.

The aim of the annual Volvo Design Challenge is to stimulate ambitious designers and to develop their talent. Participants in this design competition were asked to come up with a design inspired by Volvo, the XC60 and to show how or why design ‘moves’ them.
The ten best entries from the Volvo Design Challenge are: Kim Beekmans – Memories in movement; Youp Boelen, Jan van Ackeren, Maurice Schill, Miguel Guera – REK; Annika de Boer – The adventurers collection; Roos Gomperts & Aukje Fleur Janssen – Blur; Lenneke Langenhuijsen & Brecht Duijf – Patina; Victoria Ledig – Precious skin 2.0; Hanneke de Leeuw – SOLO, moving apart together; Lex Pott – Volvo True Colours; Tomm Velthuis – XC60 Wannabe; Mianne de Vries – Capture vase
“Young designers often surprise me with their original vision and fresh ideas and perspectives – says Corien Pompe, member of the jury –The transitional times we are living nowadays, where various cultures meet, triggers creativity and generates interesting new values. There is so much energy in the air! I am looking forward to meet young upcoming talent in the Volvo Design Challenge.”
The 10 nominees each recieve a production budget to further develop their design. The results will be shown at the Dutch Design Week 2014 (DDW), from 18–26 October in Eindhoven. There the nominees of the Volvo Design Challenge will be exhibited together with the renowned designers Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe, who will create a signature design collection for Volvo. During DDW, the winner of the Volvo Design Challenge will also be announced.
