Reflected roof

Jesper Carlsen and Akane Moriyama have created a transient experience within the Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art in Copenhagen in the form of an inverted undulating roof.

Reflected roof
Responding to the temporality of the history of the Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, which has been moved and reconfigured many times, this tent like space designed by Jesper Carlsen and Akane Moriyama is hung on the structure of the building and creates a translucent veil.
A series of fans gently manipulate the textile into a sequence of changing forms that although programmed will never exactly repeat. The daylight, cast from above, falls onto and through the fabric and as it’s angle changes throughout the day creates ever changing colours, shadows and reflections.
