A special mention also went to Elaine Zhou’s “My expo log” app, with which visitors can share their Expo experience, and Fabrizio Schirripa’s “E-prescription”, for digital medical prescriptions.
The selected projects use Telecom Italia technology, e.g. its Cloud Computing called Nuvola Italiana (a number of IT resources provided via the broadband network), and NFC (Near Field Communication), close-proximity radio-frequency technology that enables devices placed close to each other to exchange information.
The proposals were examined by a jury composed of Nicola Di Battista (Editor of Domus) Joseph Grima (architect and former Editor of Domus) Marco Patuano (CEO Telecom Italia), Carlo Ratti (lecturer at MIT in Boston), Franco Regis (Vice President Energy Purchase & Management, Telecom Italia), Italo Rota (architect, Studio Italo Rota & Partners) and Giuseppe Sala (CEO Expo 2015).
This initiative confirms the commitment of Telecom Italia and Expo to promote and sustain innovative business projects, as highlighted by the launch of the business-incubator programme Changemakers for Expo Milano 2015, which has turned 10 business initiatives with high social and environmental values into startups.
