Jürgen Mayer for CODE-n

The German architect, in collaboration with artist Tobias Rehberger, has developed a space for CODE_n's Awards Ceremony.

Founder and principle of J.Mayer H. Architects Jürgen Mayer has developed a new collaboration with artist Tobias Rehberger, transforming 3,500 square metres of CeBIT's Hall 16 in Hannover for the CODE-n's 2012 Awards Ceremony on 18 March. Mayer, who was the recipient of the 2010 Audi Future Award, was also behind the stunning Metropol Parasol in Seville, with the project process now part of the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection.

The collaboration for CODE_n blends architecture and technology in order to create a "unique innovation space" that will provide a fitting setting for the awards, which celebrate the best in mobile technology innovation. Mayer and Rehnberger's installation is a semi-open plan area with a number of two and three wall rooms which, due to their incomplete or missing segments, allow the space to remain open while creating a flow tying the areas together.

Featuring two larger open spaces in the centre of the floor plan (the "lounge," featuring block-like sitting, and the "CODE_n club"), the area is tied together by Rehberger's brightly coloured lines which scamper across the floor and up and over walls, encouraging visitors to follow them.
