Riva1920 creates solid wood furniture using certified or reclaimed materials, combining sustainability, high-quality craftsmanship, and timeless design. An Italian excellence focused on durability, transparency, and authenticity.
Titled "Object Dependency", the exhibit presents pieces of "weak furniture" that cannot stand independently until they are made structurally sound through the addition of an object. In addition to increasing stability, the accumulation of objects has other effects as well. It can change the angle of light emitted from a lamp, or expand a bookshelf. The collection is an exploration into new forms created by resetting the once-unquestioned relationship between furniture and objects.
On the first floor, the gallery shows a 2011 Nendo best-of: a serie of shelves and lamps from exhibition "Dancing Squares", first presented at the Singapore Art Stage Fair 2011, and the transparent tables from from the exhibition "Textured Tansparancy", first presented at the Janone gallery in Milan, April 2011.
