Paolo Ulian was born in Massa Carrara in 1961 so he is familiar with marble and its processing for construction and works of art. What is unusual is the treatment of marble as a material with which to design and produce contemporary design furnishings. Ulian received the following invitation from Le Fablier: to design five pieces that will be produced in a limited edition. Three of these are on show at the Galleria il Castello, in Milan. Here, Ulian is presenting Numerica, a bookcase made of stackable modules shaped like Roman numerals; Brecciato, a table made of four 'pieces' that can also be used separately; and, lastly, Concentrico: a table with a top formed of a weave of quadrangular modules. The last two pieces are on display on the Le Fablier stand at the Furniture Fair.
