This year's event promises to be nothing short of spectacular as Luminaire reaches out to the world's most influential designers posing the question, “How has design effected the world?”. To bridge the miles that separate, each was provided with an ipod Nano as the vehicle to produce a video with answers and insights. These never before seen, exclusive videos will be launched at the Luminaire Lab on November 30 and will be exhibited through December 5.
With an ongoing commitment to design education, Luminaire will be exhibiting an installation called The Third Space, an experimental project created by 52 interior design students from Germany. This project addresses sociological situations such as profiling or privacy, and translates them into specific spacious situations. The environmental settings are reminiscent of a bird's nest where the visitor is able to get playful by exploring a tent-like structure being made of spiderweb- like braided mesh. The structure is mainly made of cable straps and completely concepted by the students.
