“The Cure”, the latest work by Lebanese architect and product designer Richard Yasmine, will be presented at Ventura Future 2019, hosted by the cultural project BASE that is located in a former industrial area in Milan. It consists of three elements - an armchair, a pendulum clock and a wall mounted lighting fixture- designed more as a set-up and installation than as stand-alone furnishing complements. Each one represents a different step in the same reflection on time, karma and self-reconciliation.
The cure is not to be conceived as a remedy or concern, but as a re-establishment, a self-absolution from an excess of responsibility. We cannot have time control, for instance, we can awaken in us alertness for every moment of existence. The white on white set-up acquires a spiritual and metaphysical value: judgment is suspended, there is no sign of error or failure. While the armchair in a headstone silhouette takes a message of destiny and regeneration, the notion of time is clearly entrusted to the pendulum clock, whose the small scale reminds us our certain end. The wall lighting – which consists of a radial halo mounted on a white background – wants to symbolize majesty of our soul.
The collection is made of white powder coated aluminium structure with various other materials such as brass, neo-cement, suede, Carrara marble and couture handmade embroidery with beads pearls and silk.
