During his travels to Pavia, Verona and Piedmont, designer Matteo Di Ciommo observed the exquisite detailing of chimneys, and became fascinated by the beauty and the care given to these architectural elements designed solely for smoke to pass through. “They seem to be models of buildings positioned above larger architectures, but they are hidden, difficult to see,” explains the designer. “It was really a shame that they were all alone there.” His observations resulted in a collection of twelve unique pieces, handmade in walnut or combined with mahogany and cherry. Di Ciommo’s chimneys are small autonomous architectures, which can be observed up close: “It seemed to me, going forward in the study and construction, that they did not seem to be immobile, but tenacious and safe.”
