Bring the multiplicity of languages inside the theater: artist/designer Lonneke Gordijn from Studio Drift, director Monique Wagemakers and choreographer Nanine Linning worked together in order to turn the seventeenth-century L’Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi in a “Gesamtkunstwerk”, a total work of art. The recent installation is titled Ego, a block made of more than 16km of thin nylon thread moved by eight tie rods linked to its frame. Rigidness, fluidity, harmony, restlessness: thanks to several forms it can assume, the center stage sculpture reflects a wide range of emotions, going along the whole pièce. The show debuts 25th of January in Enschede, The Netherlands, first stop of a national tour that will include also famous Koninklijk Theater Carré di Amsterdam on the 9th and 11th of February 2020.
