The link to the Etruscans stems primarily from the use of colour throughout the interiors of this 250 sqm estate designed by NA3 Architetti. Red, pale blue and ochre are the colours of Etruscan wall paintings. Strongly inspired by local history, this refurbishment redesigns a postcard-picture in southern Etruria over the paths, history and local cartography. This house is keen to tell a story based on the needs of a family of five incorporating a vision of the past, present and future. The interiors reference simple forms such as the hut and the colours are key: the red rises from the floor while the ochre, pale blue and black are left free to roam through every space with outlooks, views and framed angles. The flooring is natural wood and the custom-designed windows and doors are in anthracite-coloured steel. The staircase and bathrooms are lined with slabs of grès stoneware.
