Ikea: never ending design stories

Ikea celebrates 20 years in Italy

At the Fuorisalone, Ikea celebrates 20 years of democratic design in Italy with a presentation of the new PS collection entitled “Never ending design stories”. Forty new products have been conceived by twenty designers, including Front of Sweden, who have come up with a chair that changes its appearance with a change of cushion and a lamp with a flexible stem, and Hella Jongerius, who presents new fabrics after working for several years with a group of women in India. Another young Swedish designer, Marcus Arvonen, has designed a poetic paper lamp like a dandelion. Also on show is a selection of objects from past editions of the PS collection (which stands for Post Scriptum), launched at the Furniture Fair in 1995. Since the Swedish company does not have a historic archive, it has asked customers and employees to loan items from their homes. Around 20 pieces – the top ones from each collection – are on show with a sign stating the name of the owner, creating a display that aims to draw attention to the issue of sustainability.
