Charlotte Perriand at Centre Pompidou

Six years after her death, an important retrospective is paying homage to the creative genius of Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999). The French designer and architect was often in the shadow of great masters like Le Corbusier and Jean Prouvé, but now she finally has an event dedicated to her alone.

About sixty little known original pieces, beginning from 1927, have been taken from her archive and put on show. These objects testify to the ten years she spent in the Le Corbusier atelier and to her passion for Japan which led to the tea house for UNESCO, designed in 1993. The exhibit shows the highlights of her long and profitable career and of her constant pursuit of the “art of living”. E.S.
