He’s known for his images composed by pixels and reproduced through watercolor. A process straddles traditional painting techniques and new technologies, allowing Adam Lister to give a new life to figures taken from the history of art, as well as from pop culture. His subjects include Magritte’s The son of the man or Munch’ Scream, but also Willy Wonka or Kermit from the Muppet’s Show. Some of his compositions have been recently revisited and became digital, enclosed in round frames. The artworks, signed and produced in series of 50, are available on his website. “These images are like puzzles, carefully disassembled and then reconstructed to reveal the subject”, explains the new yorker artist. “These works are inspired by my love for geometric abstraction, color fields, digital graphics and traditional techniques”.
