The first “Metaphors” by Ettore Sottsass were created in the early Seventies. These are the result of a long pilgrimage throughout Europe and they mark the start of a passion for photography. This passion will be subsequently fuelled by lengthy travels throughout the world by the founder of Memphis. Each “metaphor” is accompanied by a comment in caption and they are subdivided according to the ironical categories: “Drawings for human destinies”; “Drawings for man’s rights”; “Drawings for animal needs”, “Fiancées” and “Decorations”.
