This is the title of an exhibition of paintings, posters and sculptures – 45 pieces in all – promoted by the Comune di Predappio. Opened in April in the birthplace of Benito Mussolini, it is open up until 4 November.
The exhibition looks at the relationship between art and fascist propaganda, through artists who had a primary role in the nineteenth century such as Renato Bertelli, Umberto Brunelleschi, Fortunato Depero, Marcello Dudovich, Ruggero Michaelles, Xanti Schawinsky, Mario Sironi, Oscar Wildt. Artists who with their work contributed to the invention of the myth of Mussolini, with the explicit aim of creating consensus.
The exhibition has been organised by Massimo Cirulli and Maurizio Scudiero with the backing of a scientific committee made up of Maria Fede Caproni Armani, Carlo Clò, Giampiero Mughini, Alston Parvis and Maurizio Scudiero.
