Thanks to its consolidated experience and constant technological research, the company has established itself as an international benchmark in the production of high quality doors and technical solutions, even receiving an honourable mention at the Compasso d’Oro 2024.

2024 marks an important milestone in the history of Albed: the prestigious Italian company, specialised in the production of high quality doors and technical solutions, celebrates its sixtieth anniversary. Andrea Del Monte, CEO of Albed, says: “We are proud of these 60 years, during which we have reached many milestones that we are glad to have achieved because they reward our flexible approach and the special attention we give to each of our customers.”

Founded in Milan in 1964 as Boccolini & Delmonte, the brand has evolved over time to become Albed in 1996 and is now an international reference for architects and interior designers, with a series of showrooms around the world, including Milan, Moscow, Manila, Seoul, and Rome.

Albed’s journey has been one of continuous development and innovation. From its initial production of aluminium furniture, the company has expanded its range to include folding, sliding and pivoting doors, partitions, wardrobes and other furniture. This evolution has allowed Albed to collaborate with some of the most prestigious names in architecture and design, such as Zaha Hadid, Christophe Pillet and Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia / AF517*.

The All Ways system with acoustic certification

With solid experience and continuous technological research, Albed is strongly committed to respecting the environment. From products to manufacturing and packaging, the company is committed to a sustainable production cycle. All products are manufactured entirely in Italy using environmentally friendly materials. The wood used is sourced from sustainably managed forests. The glass and panels are finished using water-based paints that ensure long life and minimal environmental impact.

By integrating aesthetic care with environmental responsibility, Albed offers highly customisable products, providing tailor-made solutions to meet the specific needs of each project. “We have put our artisan DNA at the heart of the company, setting up processes to offer customised solutions and finishes. This quality has allowed us to become a key reference for many architects.

To crown Albed’s success, the company received an Honourable Mention at this year’s XXVIII Compasso d’Oro Award for the Entre-Deux collection, designed by Alfonso Femia / AF*Design. This door represents an innovative concept: not only does it separate spaces, but it also becomes an architectural volume that connects them through a frame.

“With Entre-Deux, we wanted to transform the concept of passage between spaces into a tangible and meaningful threshold,” explains architect Alfonso Femia. “The frame not only separates the spaces but also connects them, creating an ‘entre-deux’ that enriches the transition. This design adapts to needs and preferences, defining new relationships between spaces and facilitating their use”.

The door is characterised by formal minimalism and is available in aluminium, glass or wood, with options for customised frames and integrated lighting. With configurations ranging from 125 to 100 mm wall thickness and sizes up to 300 cm high and 120 cm wide, Entre-Deux elegantly blends into any environment and provides a distinctive architectural element. “We don’t even call Entre-Deux a door, we call it a ‘portal’ to emphasise its conceptually creative nature,” says Delmonte.

With a tradition of excellence in the design and manufacture of interior design solutions, Albed continues to be a leading reference in the industry, combining craftsmanship, advanced technology and environmental sustainability.
