The new face of Hotel Columbus in Florence

This restyling  transforms a building overlooking the Arno River into a refined five-star facility in which Flessya doors are also the protagonists, between design, performance and attention to detail.

In the heart of Florence, just a few steps from the Arno River, Hotel Columbus has changed its skin. From a simple accommodation facility, in 2023 it embarked on a path of transformation that led it toward a more ambitious identity: to become a luxury five-star hotel. The project was managed by Sonoko Italia, with the signature of studio Eutropia Architettura and the touch of designer Andrea Auletta. A radical evolution that involved every aspect of the building, including-and especially-the fixtures.

In the world of high-end hotellerie, doors are not just passages: they are elements of style, security and comfort. This is why Flessya was involved from the very beginning not only as a supplier, but as a consultant. After a careful comparison of regulatory constraints, aesthetic requirements and technical performance, the N00 door from the Receptiva line was chosen. Clean lines, smooth door leaf, solid tactile feel: a perfect balance between minimalism and perceived quality.

The color plays a key role. The doors in the bedrooms and bathrooms were lacquered RAL 7030, a neutral and sophisticated shade that dialogues well with the furnishings. For the spa area, however, a cooler and more relaxing RAL 7033 was chosen, ideal for an environment dedicated to wellness. Bella handles in satin chrome on the inside, fixed pomo on the outside: every detail is designed to combine elegance and functionality.

Performance has also been raised to a new level: from the originally planned EI30 to EI60 doors, with noise abatement of 42 dB. This is a major upgrade, providing privacy and security in line with the hotel's new standards. Each door is equipped with a panic lock, electric counterplate and badge opening, integrating seamlessly with the rooms' home automation.

A refined choice that tells how, even through a door, an authentically contemporary hospitality experience can be built.

For the suite bathrooms, finally, a model from the S-nziale line was chosen, with dark brown aluminum profiles and Flutes decorated glass door. The cannulated texture lets natural light through, but ensures the right amount of privacy. A refined choice that tells how, even through a door, an authentically contemporary hospitality experience can be built.
