Alea, in Milan for a design of ethics, beauty, and functionality

The historic Friulian company specializing in office and contract furniture has opened a new showroom in Milan. The space blends design and ethics, offering beautiful, functional, and durable products in line with its sustainability vision.

A new sign for a new dream. A geometry suspended between what is and what will be. A showroom, a manifesto of material, form, and detail. This is how Alea's new Milanese location reveals itself. It’s no coincidence that it's located at via Alessio di Tocqueville 12, nestled between the elegant Corso Como and Portanuova, on the ground floor of the Podium, directly across from Corso Como Place—where the city reinvents itself at every turn.

A crossroads of visions where bold, innovative office furniture definitively steps beyond its traditional boundaries, breaks the mold, embraces the intimacy of bespoke design, and ventures into new realms. Here, the surfaces, shapes, and colors of the Alea and m | artedesign collections are revealed in a dialogue between material and spirit, function and emotion. The layout unfolds in a narrative of gentle rationalism. It’s a design counter-shock where every piece of furniture, every line, and every detail has its own reason for being and its own story. It is an experience of continuous discovery, multiplied infinitely by the play of large mirrors nearly five meters high made with the new A30+ partition wall, which shatter the space and recompose it in a dance of reflections and perspectives. The Alea philosophy, its passion and vision for the beauty of tomorrow as expressed in the company’s purpose, finds concrete expression here.

French architect Régis Botta, Italian architect Massimo Garavaglia, and Alea’s Research & Development team have shaped the 300 square meters of the showroom into an enveloping environment — a true symphony of furnishings. The R_9 bookshelves, signed by Mirto Antonel, define the autonomous spaces that compose a coherent and harmonious whole. Everything is immersed in a chromatic palette of green, talc, and beige colors that evoke calmness and reflection. There are many discoveries to be made, including the new essential_2025 collection by m | artedesign, born from the pen of Emilio Nanni. The new Lunettes stools, Urban tables, and Trifoglio plant holder are not just furniture and accessories, but elements that elevate the space, adding a touch of contemporary style to timeless classicism.

But for Alea, beauty is not an end in itself; it's a means. And the means is sustainability. Since 2023, the company has become a Benefit Corporation, a choice that transforms business into a mission and a daily commitment to the environment and the community. The "Better" project", aimed at constant and daily improvement, is the guiding principle of a concrete journey toward more responsible and conscious design. The R_9 bookshelf, for example, embodies this philosophy with clarity. Its single-material essence is not a stylistic choice but a design decision that simplifies recycling at the end of its life, eliminating the typical complexity of products made from heterogeneous materials. Likewise, its complete disassemblability is not a whim but a fundamental feature that facilitates maintenance, repair and circularity. The Queen armchair, for its part, demonstrates that design excellence lies not only in the choice of materials but also in their management and in the ability to create products that are both durable and adaptable to contemporary needs. These two products are not exceptions but tangible proof that ethical and functional design is not only possible but already a reality.

From Sarone di Caneva to the world, in over 50 years of history, Alea has transformed Made in Italy and its region, Friuli Venezia Giulia, into a passport to 90 markets. Milan, with this new hub, is not just a showcase but the crossroads of this international vocation. “A new starting point and a renewed perspective on the world,” as CEO Tiziano Carlot explains, ready to turn the showroom into a hub of events and collaborations where design merges with networking and marketing, creating a dynamic and ever-evolving space.

In short, a place, where the idea of design transforms into a dialogue, an opportunity to meet and create. This is the spirit of Alea, a company that doesn’t just furnish offices but shapes spaces for work and life, where people feel good. A future that, both in Pordenone and Milan, carries the scent of beauty, ethics, and passion.
