With Victoria & Albert Baths, design becomes immersion

The inspiration for the latest bathtub by Victoria & Albert Baths, which conducts ever-active research into form, function and materials, comes from afar.

Like a crater shaped by water and time, Kerid was born from an idea of deep, silent immersion. Victoria & Albert Baths' new freestanding tub combines the suggestion of Japanese onsen with the essential landscape of Icelandic volcanoes, from which it takes its name. Designed to welcome the body into a vertical embrace, it is meant for both long hot baths and rejuvenating cold soaks, in line with increasingly popular wellness practices.

83 cm tall and only 135 cm long, Kerid is compact yet surprisingly enveloping. The seat integrated at the base naturally accompanies the body, while the sloping edge supports the head with a studied curvature. A simple yet effective formal gesture that dialogues with the materiality of Quarrycast, a blend of volcanic stone and resin developed exclusively by the company: sturdy, durable, resistant to temperature changes, and also suitable for outdoor installations.

An object that explores the concept of well-being through its form, designed to host slow, contemplative practices in spaces that seek a balance between sensory richness and minimalist design.

The collection is completed with two coordinating elements: the Kerid 43 basin, a perfectly circular countertop basin with a sharp base and sculpted profile, and a Quarrycast step that echoes the proportions of the bathtub and facilitates access, thanks to the presence of non-slip grooves. All pieces are available in a gloss finish and can be customized with more than 200 RAL colors to suit a wide range of design contexts, from urban residential to high-profile hôtellerie.

At a time when the bathroom rediscovers itself as an intimate and ritual place, Kerid is proposed as a sculptural piece of furniture that does not give up functionality.
