A collection crafted from waste

In a historical moment when sustainability is no longer an added value but a design necessity, Fidia Living emerges as a tale of aesthetic coherence and ethical rigor. The new living line designed by Nicola Gallizia for Vaselli is part of the Fidia collection, which has already been presented to the public with the Modular Tub during the last Fuorisalone. The new living room tables, offered in different sizes and heights, celebrate the raw material through a process of recovery and enhancement of marble scraps, carefully selected by the designer to restore dignity and form to what risked oblivion.

Waste, marginal fragments of a production centered on large stone blocks, are reintroduced into the production cycle to take on a new function. No longer by-products or secondary materials, but supporting elements of an aesthetic that comes from cutting, assembling, and composing. The table legs transform a formal memory into a living structure, articulated in combinations that oscillate between seriality and uniqueness.

Fidia Living works on a modular grammar, allowing each object to take on an open, changing identity. Volumes are juxtaposed and articulated as in a landscape, suggesting relationships, contrasts, rhythmic variations. Marble, stone, wood or other materials-when present-do not compete, but meet in an unexpected balance. It is an approach that rejects the idea of a finished product in favor of a design logic more akin to sculpture, in which form is the result of a process of listening to matter.

"The collection was born out of a fascination with unfinished work," Gallizia explains. "To transform what remains into a starting point, to bring out a possible order in apparent chaos." In this vision, Fidia Living becomes a manifesto of recovered beauty, not only in a material sense but also in a symbolic one: a reflection on the possibility of regenerating, reconstructing, recomposing. Vaselli thus consolidates its trajectory in the world of living, where the expressive power of matter finds a new centrality.
