Shanghai: a timeless furniture collection

Characterised by vertical metal elements, the Shanghai Collection is an expression of the great craftsmanship heritage developed by Cantori since 1976.

The union between craftsmanship and new industrial techniques, between innovation and tradition, is what characterises that complex microcosm that we call Design Made in Italy. In the Domus for Design manifesto, we recognise design as "one of the founding elements of Italian cultural identity and the construction of global society." Design therefore goes far beyond the simple production of a specific product or piece of furniture: safeguarding and encouraging the transmission of production knowledge, creating value around design, forging synergies with local communities... There are companies that naturally express this attitude, such as Cantori, a company founded in 1976 in Camerano, in the Marche region. Starting out as an artisan metalworking business (and more), in little more than 40 years Cantori has become a leading manufacturer of beds, with a range of products from classic to contemporary, together with a varied collection of furnishings and accessories that convey all the charm of the "Cantori vision" to the home.

Shanghai sideboard with four doors. The wooden structure is supported by forged metal feet that fit perfectly into the four corners. Its sleek line with rounded edges, combined with refined details, make it a storage unit capable of standing out in any context. Ideal in a large hall or a sophisticated living room. The Shanghai side table is characterized by vertical elements made of full forged iron, joined by a linear weave at the base. The irregularly shaped top can be made of stone, marble, or wood. To pair together various coffee tables made of different materials creates an interesting dynamism in the living area

The Shanghai bar cabinet has two doors which, when open, reveal the interior, lacquered with a Moroccan earth colour, and divided by a polished-edge glass shelf and two drawers. So, when the doors are opened, the bar cabinet is transformed into a sophisticated display with a high aesthetic value

Cantori's forty years of experience is expressed in a new collection designed by Maurizio Manzoni. Shanghai presents a series of furniture for the living and sleeping areas, sofas and accessories, characterised by vertical metal structures. The combination of warm materials, wood and natural fabrics makes this range capable of fitting into any contemporary living context, whether metropolitan or rural, minimalist or organic. The charm of the Shanghai collection comes from the high quality of the manufacture, which makes the furniture out of time or the taste of the moment. The products are the result of hard work and knowledge cultivated in the village of craftsmen built by Cantori. This represents the genuine soul of the company which, through a masterly manual skill, combined with a continuous qualitative selection of new and ancient materials, expresses in its creations all the best of Made in Italy.
