High-quality ceramic surfaces enrich a sports centre

Magma represents fire and the power of volcanoes, but it also reflects the energy, warmth and creativity of the Neapolitan people, who have always had a special relationship with their volcano, Vesuvius. Magma Wellness is therefore an appropriate name for a sports centre near Naples, which aims to become a new meeting place capable of transmitting the positive values of physical well-being and sport. For the sports complex, Violante Costruzioni chose the versatility of FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti's technical ceramic tiles for indoor and outdoor tiling. The project contributes to the revaluation of the metropolitan area of Naples. The Cercola area is in fact undergoing an important regeneration process thanks to various public and private projects, such as the Ospedale del Mare. "The idea of a sports complex was born from the desire to contribute to the rebirth of this territory. It was therefore a series of considerations that led us to think of an innovative structure of its kind, based and organised on a strong combination of health and physical activity, where all stress is banned from the moment of entry," says Ciro Violante, partner with his brother Rosario of the Violante Costruzioni company.

The entrepreneur tells us about the architectural character of the Magma Wellness complex, which covers an area of about 7,700 sqm: "All the buildings in the area have some common features: like a simple, linear geometry, some attractive elements in the facades. The intention is that they should be recognisable as parts of a larger intervention, but at the same time have elements that differentiate them from each other".

The choice of Iris Ceramica Group materials was decisive, in particular the FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti and Iris Ceramica brands, which enrich the spaces with different finishes and special fine applications, such as the circular staircase. "We clad the staircases and corridors with large FMG Onice Ambra marble-effect Maxfine slabs in a polished finish, and with large slabs in intense colours Azul Macaubas in a polished finish, measuring 300X100cm, while for the outdoor floor and offices we chose Iris Ceramica's warmly welcoming Calx Grigio cement effect slabs; finally, in the bathrooms, we chose Sync Steel Grey stone effect slabs with warm, welcoming colours," says Violante, who also recounts the intense collaboration between the company and the ceramic surfaces company. 

"We have scheduled a meeting at the exhibition hall of Iris Ceramica and FMG in Fiorano Modenese, to see live and verify the most suitable materials. We chose FMG slabs from the Maxfine collection in the City Stone Dove version for the floor of the sports complex, because our aim was to achieve an authentic stone effect, but without sacrificing the high performance and flexibility of technical ceramics, and thanks to the reduced thickness of the material we were able to create special applications such as the steps of the scenic circular staircase".
