The tent produced from plastic waste and infinitely recyclable

Produced by Medit, the Re_Life tent uses only Econyl® regenerated nylon, which preserves the same characteristics of the standard material but with a total green process.

Pollution caused by plastics is one of the most serious issues of our time. In recent years we have increasingly seen companies, scientists and designers working together to promote creative responses that address the topic from different perspectives. One such initiative is the Guiltless Plastics competition launched by gallerist Rossana Orlandi, which aims to encourage designers to experiment with alternative solutions to disposable plastics. "Every year over 322 million tons of plastic are produced and 8 million tons end up in our oceans," says the competition website. "This is threatening the health of marine ecosystems and marine life".

Lately we have also noticed a general change in the strategy to raise awareness of the problem: we have moved from installations made with plastic waste to the initiatives of big brands such as Adidas, which makes its collections from plastic found in the oceans. In the latter direction goes the work of the Italian company Medit, which is the first in its segment to present a high-performance and exclusive tent made using 100% regenerated Econyl® nylon, a product that is infinitely recyclable and made exclusively from plastic waste.

Re_Life fabrics by Medit are made without the use of new resources

For the Re_Life tent, Medit proposes a circular process that can be repeated countless times without ever using new resources, transforming one of the most impacting ecological emergencies on the planet – plastic waste – into materials for new products. Sustainability takes nothing away from the softness, lightness and quality of curtains. For the first launch, four natural colours are available, ranging from white to grey, with three reinforcements for domestic interiors – a gauze, a diamond and a georgette – plus one for the more technical segment.

"This first launch of Re_Life is the starting point of a real revolution. We believe in the need and the enormous potential of a future echo and as circular as possible carried out by the production system, also in the awnings sector. The theme has already been embraced by our company on several fronts for years, but today with the excellence and uniqueness of this product made with 100% ECONYL® regenerated yarn, we are really proud to propose a truly exclusive total green solution" says Raffaele Varano, CEO of Medit.
