Schüco for All: two accessible and relational residences

The aluminium windows and doors by Schüco create a direct connection between interior and exterior and are integrated with the essential architecture designed by architect Mario Tessarollo.

Open and crossable, accessible and relational: the semi-detached residence designed by architect Mario Tessarollo is designed to be easily enjoyed by everyone, following the principles of Universal Design. The building has no obstacles and offers comfort and safety even to people with motor disabilities.

"Architecture changes our relationships with space and with others, defining 'living' environments as something not only private", says Tessarollo. The new project, consisting of two volumes developed on a single level, combines sustainability and accessibility: the construction arises from the grounds of two old industrial buildings, which have been demolished to give space to the contemporary residences; the houses are designed to allow mobility in every interior and exterior space.

Accessibility is also guaranteed by the choice of Schüco frames, which allow a direct relationship between indoor and outdoor, transforming doors and windows into almost invisible thresholds rather than separating elements. This generates a great potential for opening and communication between spaces.

"The large windows in the living room connect the interior with the outside, the images of the surroundings flow through the transparencies in an intimate connection between architecture and context, the transparent, climate-sensitive building intensifies the occupants' state of aesthetic well-being, allows them to perceive the external climate of the place and the daily and seasonal changes," explains the architect.

The aluminium solutions proposed by Schüco for the dwellings integrate perfectly with the architecture, following the clean, elegant, minimalist language that characterises homes.

These principles are followed by the Schüco ADS 75.HD aluminium entrance door and the Schüco ASS 70.HI sliding door systems that hide inside the masonry counter wall when opened.

With Schüco aluminium solutions, the seven principles of Universal Design (fairness, flexibility, simplicity, perceptibility, error tolerance, physical effort limitation, sufficient size and space) become a fundamental part of the world of windows and doors, thanks to the development of tailor-made technologies that guarantee the highest standards of insulation, reliability and durability, with the utmost attention to functionality and user comfort.
