ADI Design Index 2011, curated by Maria Cristina Tommasini with an interview with Enzo Mari, and essays by Marco Belpoliti and Stefano Maffei, ADI Corraini, Milano – Mantua, 2011 (pp. 320, € 32)

The content retains the same high standards, guaranteed by the Permanent Observatory for Design. Over 150 experts continually active across Italy, highlight the most interesting products and services in all sectors; 11 thematic commissions, one for each section in the book, who make a further selection and a final selection committee who ratifies the definitive choice of products for publication.

This year sees a change in the way that this design quality is communicated: along with the usual printed edition is a website dedicated exclusively to ADI Design Index and the work that sustains it. All the selected products featured in the printed version are published here, with additional space given over to further exploration, documentation and information, also after the publication of the book.

The link between the printed and web version is immediate and accurate: it is possible to go from each page in the book to the web page dedicated to a particular product thanks to a QR code that can be read by a regular smartphone.

The work of producers and designers is communicated more efficiently while an increasingly wide space for information and debate is made available to an audience of enthusiasts and specialists.

The new graphic and publishing design has emerged from a proposal presented by the studio ZUP Associati, winner of a Compasso d'Oro in the XXII edition of the award.
