Little Sophia is a robot that will teach kids how to code

It's made by Hanson Robotics, the company behind the world-famous humanoid AI robot Sophia.

Hanson Robotics has developed a smaller version of their famous humanoid AI robot Sophia. Aptly named Little Sophia, the small robot is made to work as a learning companion for kids aged seven to 13 years old. Developed by Hanson Robotics founder David Hanson, the small humanoid robot is targeted especially at young girls, teaching them coding, science, math and robotics in a fun and non-intimidating way. The goal is to introduce a higher number of young women to STEM fields where female students are still very much underrepresented. "Little Sophia has the same endearing personality as Sophia the Robot. She is intensely curious, refreshingly innocent, and uniquely playful," said Hanson Robotics."She is the only consumer robot with a human-like face who can generate a wide range of human facial expressions.”
The project has been already fully funded on Kickstarter, where it’s still possible to pre-order one Little Sophia with a minimum pledge of 149$. The estimated shipping date is December 2019.
