Apple's credit card needs a lot of care

The company has published some basic instructions to keep it safe and sound.

This year's Apple strategy includes online services like Apple News+, Apple Tv+ (its long-awaited response to Netflix), Apple Arcade (a Netflix of games), saying goodbye to Jony Ive, solving MacBooks' butterfly keyboard problem, an iPhone with a triple camera, much more and... a credit card, the Apple Card. It was announced in March and is now available for US customers. You can use it with the Wallet app on your iPhone or with the more traditional real-world version. Like you'd expect of anything that comes from Cupertino, it's beautiful and a bit different from other credit cards: made of titanium, it has the owner's name but no number or expiration date printed on it.

Everybody knows that it's better not to keep your iPhone in the same pocket that you use for your keys. Well, the same for the Apple Card. On its website, Apple updated the support page warning that a bunch of factors may damage your card. Some fabrics like leather and fabric could cause permanent discolouration of it, for example. And it could be scratched if placed near to another credit card in a wallet. Finally, Apple recommends using a wallet or bag made of “soft materials” to store it and to clean it with a microfiber cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
