Miami to get world’s first Covid-ready skyscraper

Legacy Tower at Miami Worldcenter was designed to face future sanitary emergencies, aiming to be a pandemic-ready urban ecosystem.

The new Legacy Tower at Miami Worldcenter was designed to be a one-of-a-kind residential, hospitality, health and well-being urban ecosystem, architect Kobi Karp has explained.

The 600-feet tall building will host residences, an hotel and a 10-floor medical center, with technologically advanced health and well-being services. The medical center will include a diagnostic lab testing suite for preemptive health evaluations, a pharmacy, surgery rooms, medically equipped rooms, ultrasound imaging facilities, x-ray, MRI and CT Scan.

In the event of a public health emergency, as Covid, the Legacy Tower is equipped with medical gases and ventilators. Since the skyscraper will host a medical center, an hotel and residences all in one structure, according to the designers it will create a pandemic-ready space that will allow more easily residents and guest to shelter in place.

This system turns the outdoors into a custom experience

A fully configurable structure, designed to blend seamlessly into the natural landscape while providing shelter from sun, wind, and rain.
