The “Solo Figli” exhibition is based on the investigation of objective reality in small size sculpture in keeping with the space housing the exhibition, the Bologna Esprit Nouveau Pavilion. Within the building designed by Le Corbusier for the 1925 Exposition International des Arts Décoratifs held in Paris, and rebuilt in 1977 in front of the main entrance of Bologna Fiere, the exhibition features thirty-three small and unseen ‘newborn’ art works.

Cuoghi Corsello, Mago Ferenghi, 2016, oil on crete, 23x21x18cm

The small size sculptures show up as minimal constructions, as ‘newborn’ entities, somehow engendered by the architectural concept of the space housing them. This space becomes a scenery where tridimensional elements act as points of reference, sometimes contrasting one another, each one in close relation with the functionality of the place. In fact, the context between the track of time and a charming memory of the rooms transforms the artworks into extremely fragile and precious travel “souvenirs”.
