Icehotel #26

A three meter tall elephant carved out of snow, jumping sheep, a 1970’s Love Capsule, and an imperial Russian theatre set are some of the creations of this winter’s hotel.

AnnaSofia Mååg, Elephant in the Room, Icehotel #26
Like every winter for the past 26 years, at the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, Swedish Lapland the ice from the Torne River is transformed to art sculptures and architecture.
Thirty-six artists coming from thirteen different countries designed this year’s suite: among those, a three meter tall African elephant carved out of snow by AnnaSofia Mååg, dreamy jumping sheep tucking you into bed conceived by Luca Roncoroni, the Luc Voisin and Mathieu Brison’s 1970’s inspired Love Capsule, and the imperial Russian-inspired theatre set, Labyrinth Saga designed by Clara Lindencrona and Kristin Borg.
